Maha Shivratri at Sri Sankara Mattham, Matunga, is a deeply spiritual and grand celebration dedicated to Lord Shiva. The highlight of the observance is the Laksha Archana, where thousands of Bilva leaves are meticulously offered to the divine, accompanied by the powerful and continuous chanting of Om Namah Shivaya. The temple radiates divine energy as devotees participate in Rudrabhishekam, fasting, and night-long prayers, seeking the blessings of Mahadeva. The sanctum, illuminated by sacred lamps and the fragrance of sandalwood and camphor, creates an atmosphere of profound devotion and spiritual upliftment.

The Maha Shivratri celebrations begin with Maha Ganapathi Homam at 5:30 AM, followed by Rudraikadasi Sankalpam, Ekadasa Rudra Japam, Abhishekam, and Rudra Homam throughout the day. The evening rituals commence with Kramarchana at 7:15 PM, leading to Deeparadhana and Laksha Archana at 9:00 PM.

The night-long observance includes four Yaama Abhishekams at 12:15 AM, 2:45 AM, and 5:45 AM, culminating in at dawn, followed by the final Deeparadhana at 6:00 AM the next day.
